Suffolk Best Western to be transformed into boutique hotel with Marco Pierre White restaurant
The Brook Hotel in Suffolk, currently operating under Best Western, is set to be transformed…
This outstanding newly-refurbished boutique hotel is situated close to Felixstowe town centre, train station and coastline, including a family-friendly shingle beach. Our hotel boasts a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, with a Marco Pierre White Private Dining Room and The Queen’s Head Ale House.
Felixstowe is Britain’s largest container port. The main navigation channel is dredged to 47+1⁄2 feet (14.5 m) below chart datum and a depth of up to 49 feet (15 m) alongside the quay.
Hotel Coco began life as large Arts & Crafts house and this historic building features many elements from this turn of the century movement. The Arts and Crafts Movement flourished from around 1860 to 1910, and is most known for its textiles, ornaments and wallpapers with simple flower and plant designs or medieval motifs. William Morris was a leading figure in the Arts & Crafts world, renowned for his distinctive wallpaper, textiles and tiles.
During the 2nd World War, Felixstowe became a Garrison town, full of all the army services associated with the war effort. Residents could only enter at security checkpoints and had to show identity cards and this continued throughout the war. Many of the larger buildings, such as Felixstowe Golf Club were used to house injured servicemen and Felixstowe saw a large aerial attack on 12th May 1941, with 8 bombs falling around the area in King Street and in fields at Walton Hall Farm.
By the 1970’s the building was operating as Hotel De Novo and by 2000 the hotel was renamed, The Brook Hotel, and acquired by the Govindasamy family in 2002.
In Spring 2024, all 25 bedrooms were totally upgraded to form part of a boutique hotel, Hotel Coco, with exciting new food and beverage offering from Marco Pierre White, at just 33, the youngest chef to be awarded three Michelin stars.
The new restaurant, bar, private dining areas and courtyard are now completely transformed to offer a superb relaxed and elegant dining experience within Hotel Coco for both residents and non-residents.
Situated just minutes from Felixstowe town centre, train station and beach, the hotel is an ideal location to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and Afternoon tea.
